I love this because it’s very true, we as humans can’t be fit into boxes of “eldest” and “youngest” though there are many attributes that come with being a certain age or the kid you are but it’s not fully correct, we all are allowed to feel all the feels without being labelled as a certain type of sibling so yes as you correctly said one can be something if it comes truly from the soul 💗
hello psych student here! some personality theorists do think birth order has an impact on a person’s personality (like Adler), but it’s more to do with the changing attitudes of the parents then the birth order itself, like you mentioned. but it’s very hard to research anything related to the personality, considering that nobody can even define the term personality. so, if you feel like an eldest daughter, nobody can tell you that you’re not <3 this was a great read!
I resonate with this so deeply. Being the ‘baby’ of the family yet feeling the oldest. I’ve told myself it’s because of the gender roles (coming from an older, southern family where the traditional roles of women are to uphold the house). This piece made me think about it differently! i agree that one can be something if it comes truly from the soul!
I have a brother too and I also relate to the eldest daughter things. Maybe I think it mostly about your personality and how you were raised but maybe having a brother and being the only daughter might have something to do with it. Being a woman in today's society is hard, having those stereotypes and trying to fit in is soul drenching. We don't need to fit into anything. Being yourself should be enough.
this is so true! as an eldest daughter, i definitely relate to the eldest daughter discourse. however, i don't think its completely accurate for everyone - your personality is also determined by other traits regardless of birth order which can influence who you are
I'm an only child and I also relate to a lot of the eldest daughter discourse lol at this point, I'm wondering if it's just part of being a woman in the world

I loved this! I always see so many posts about being the eldest daughter and as the youngest sibling myself I feel quite left out
